We've Added a New Home Delivery Route
Ballard Food Bank is a place of hope. Neighbors come through our doors four days a week to choose food for their families, access services in our Community Resource Hub, and receive their mail. Friendly faces and a welcoming environment greet everyone we serve.
We make sure that our neighbors who are home-bound feel that same sense of hope. Seniors and those with limited mobility are able to receive food through our Home Delivery Program. Over 100 of our neighbors receive a bag of food each week – with bread, protein, eggs, milk, and more – delivered personally by a volunteer.
We customize these bags to honor their dietary needs. Some folks are dairy free and receive almond or soy milk in their deliveries. Others prefer foods that are easy to prepare in a microwave. We often hear from our neighbors how grateful they are for Home Delivery. Their lives are enriched not only by nutritious food, but also by the conversation and connection that is fundamental to this program.
To further meet the needs of our community, we added an additional route to our Home Delivery
Program. Volunteers now deliver food to three different geographic routes throughout our community. Because of this improvement, ten of our neighbors were taken off a waitlist and are now receiving weekly deliveries of fresh food. Adding a new route also gives us the flexibility to reach more people in the future.
Are you interested in supporting this amazing program? We need volunteers to help drive our van, deliver bags, and bring hope to our neighbors. If interested, please reach out to Jada Wittow at jadaw@ballardfoodbank.org.
