Food is a human right, as is access to housing and healthcare, including dental healthcare. Where do you turn when you need to choose which of the three you can afford? For Dolores, a Ballard Food Bank visitor, this was her reality.

We are updating our schedule for the weeks of December 23rd and December 30th as both Wednesdays are federal holidays. We will be open later on Mondays and closing early on Tuesdays those weeks.

Ballard Food Bank piloted our gleaning program last fall, and it allows our volunteers to harvest fresh vegetables and fruit at the farm from July through December. In one week alone, staff and volunteers collected over 2,000 pounds of butternut squash.

Our city is stronger and safer when everyone has access to food, housing, senior and youth services, and healthcare. Our next city budget needs to deepen investment in human services and wage equity to address the significant challenges we face. You can help advocate for these priorities!

Making sure our neighbors get the food they need really is a community effort! We’re grateful for all the folks in our community who come together to share food including fresh produce with our shoppers. Right now, some of the freshest comes from local P-Patches that have shared about 3,000 pounds with our shoppers so far this season.

We continue to see higher numbers of shoppers and guests than ever before. With the increased numbers, we also have longer lines outside the building each morning. To reduce wait times and offer new options for our shoppers, our team has been thinking creatively about solutions and piloting new programs.
